Akshar has been with IFS since 2001. He heads IFS' tax practice. He advises on tax planning and corporate structuring matters as well as handles client tax affairs, including advisory, compliance and litigation. He oversees a sizeable portfolio of investment funds, as well as multinational and private clients. He sits on the Board of a number of global business license companies, including investment funds, investment managers/advisors and special purpose entities. Prior to joining IFS, Akshar worked as Economic Analyst in the Economic Affairs and Fiscal Policies Departments of the Mauritian Ministry of Finance.
Akshar is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in United Kingdom and an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He graduated with a First Class Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Economics from the University of Mauritius and also holds a Master in Business Administration with specialisation in Finance from the same University. Akshar is also a member of the Mauritius Branch of the International Fiscal Association as well as a member of the Mauritius Institute of Directors.
Couldip specialises in corporate structuring and mutual, private equity and hedge funds. Couldip sits on Boards of Companies, with diverse interests. Couldip is regarded in high esteem for his contribution to the Mauritius Financial Services sector in general. He is a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and has previously been a partner of one of the Big Four accounting firms in Mauritius, leading audit Assignments of World Bank financed projects in East and West Africa. He is a past Chairman of the Stock Exchange of Mauritius and has been called by the Government to serve on Commissions and fact-finding committees. He has led and directed the production of the “IFS Guide to Mauritian Company Law”.
Fareed joined IFS in August 1995. He has overall responsibility for compliance and corporate secretarial matters at IFS. He is also involved in fund set up/administration. Prior to joining IFS, Fareed worked for 11 years as Court Officer with the Mauritius Judicial Department and for about a year with the secretarial arm of KPMG as Deputy Manager being in charge of its secretarial and insolvency departments. He serves as a director of global business companies and investment funds.
Fareed is a Chartered Secretary from the UK Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and holds a Masters in Business Administration (Finance), UK.
Building & Facilities Administrator
Peggy joined IFS in June 2011 and heads the Corporate Risks and Advisory function. Peggy started her career at De Chazal Du Mée, a representative of Andersen Worldwide, in Mauritius where her focus evolved from Financial, Business to Strategy Consulting. She also worked at EY (Mauritius), in the IT Consultancy arm. After 10 years in consulting, Peggy moved to the Business Process Outsourcing industry at Rogers Outsourcing Solutions as Business Development Manager and subsequently at Accenture Mauritius Ltd, as Senior Manager leading a team of more than 200 people in delivering Finance and Accounting outsourcing services to a portfolio of international clients across different Industries.
Peggy is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants with 21 years of post-qualification experience. She is a member of the Mauritius Institute of Directors and sits on the Board of a number of global business license companies.
Chairman and Director
Rama is recognised for his role in establishing Mauritius as an International Financial Centre when he was Minister of Finance from 1991 to 1995. He is highly regarded for his economic reform that helped to re-position Mauritius as a diversified economy. He was also Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Economic Empowerment between 2005 and 2010. Dr Sithanen is the present Chairman of the Rwanda Development Board and advises the Government of Rwanda on taxes, competitiveness and financial services issues. He read Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science and holds a BSc with first class honours and an MSc with a mark of distinction. He has a PhD is Political Science from Brunel University, UK.
Chief Operating Officer
Rubina heads the operations of IFS. Prior to joining IFS in March 1999, she was a Senior Manager with PwC (Mauritius), with particular exposure in the financial, textile and tourism sectors, including management of overseas projects financed by international financial institutions such as the World Bank. She had previously worked for KPMG (Manchester) for 6 years, where she specialised in the Banking and Finance sector and Value for Money audits. She has over 25 years’ experience in accountancy, auditing, tax and consultancy. Her area of specialisation is on fund structuring and administration. She also serves as a director of global business companies and investment funds.
Rubina is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and holds a BSc (Hons) from the University of Manchester.
Sudesh Basanta is responsible for Human Resources and Training at IFS. Prior to joining IFS he worked at the South East Asian Bank in Research and Planning for four years and for Deloitte Haskins + Sells in the Consultancy department for two years. He joined IFS in January 1994 and until recently headed a team responsible for the administration of Venture Capital and Mutual Funds and Global Business Companies. He is also a director on a number of global business companies.
Sudesh holds a BSc (Hons) in Actuarial & Management Science from the University of Manitoba.
Yash joined IFS in 1998 and, throughout his career, has been working with and then leading different teams having responsibility for portfolios of around 150 client entities, including Collective Investment Schemes and Closed-End Funds. He has also worked on the implementation of a specialised integrated accounting package at IFS, coordinated a team for the ISAE3402 Type I and II audits at IFS in 2012 and forms part of the FATCA team at IFS. He is currently heading two units at IFS: (i) the Compliance and Controls Unit and (ii) the Liquidation and Winding up Unit. He holds directorships on several companies administered by IFS.
Yash is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Mauritius and also holds an MBA (Finance) with Distinction from the same university.
Zakir currently leads a team of 16 people having the responsibility for a portfolio of more than 150 entities, including collective investment schemes, close-end funds, investment holding companies, trusts and foundations. He is also the head of the trust services unit. He has been exposed to the main areas of the industry including legal, tax, administration and corporate secretarial fields. He sits on the Board of a number of global business companies.
He has more than 25 years of experience in the field of accounting and finance. Prior to joining IFS in August 2000, he was the Financial Accountant of a textile manufacturing company where he worked for more than 6 years. He has also worked for a medium sized firm of chartered accountants. Zakir is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK. He is also a Chartered Secretary from the UK Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.
