KAPIL DEV JOORY, Founder, Marketing and Tax Director, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.  He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.  Dev was until 1993 a Senior Tax Executive at Ernst & Young, London office, and previously worked for Touche Ross and Price Waterhouse Tax and Audit Departments.  He has over 30 years of post-qualification experience in international tax planning and business structuring. His area of specialization includes international banking and financial services including Islamic banking, offshore fund structuring. intellectual and real property planning, franchising and retail operations.

COULDIP BASANTA LALA, Founder and Technical Director, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He is a past Chairman of the Mauritius Stock Exchange Commission and has sat on high-powered government enquiries/committees. Couldip was until 1993 an executive partner of the local representative firm of Arthur Andersen. He was responsible for all practice support and development, covering training, technical developments, marketing support and strategic planning. He is the lead author of The IFS Guide to Mauritian Company Law. He is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and a director of SBI International (Mauritius) Limited, an offshore bank, subsidiary of State Bank of India.

RUBINA TOORAWA, Director of Operations, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and holds a BSc (Hons) from the University of Manchester. Rubina has 11 years experience gained in the profession while in employment with PWC and KPMG with particular exposure in the financial, textile and tourism sectors. She has been with the firm for over 7 years and her present area of specialization is investment fund structuring and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

ABDOOL FAREED SOREEFAN, Director of Compliance and head of corporate secretarial services, is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and holds an MBA (Finance). Fareed has over 10 years experience with the firm and was previously Deputy Manager with the secretarial arm of KPMG. He also has 11 years experience in operational administration of justice gained at the Judicial Department of Mauritius. His area of specialization includes fund, company and trust set up and administration, and company law and anti-money laundering compliance.

PAMELA BALASOUPRAMANIEN is a Member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and holds a BA (Hons) in Accounting, Finance and Economics, University of Essex, England.  

Pamela Balasoupramanien is also a member of the International Fiscal Association. She has over 11 years experience in the global business sector and prior to joining IFS, was an executive director of a major licensed management company where she was heading the fund services group.  Her areas of specialisation are investment fund structuring and ongoing administration. 

SUDESH LALA, Senior Manager, holds a BSc (Hons) in Actuarial & Management Science from the University of Manitoba.  Prior to joining IFS he worked at the South East Asian Bank in Research and Planning for four years and for Deloitte Haskins + Sells in the Consultancy department for two years.  He joined IFS in January 1994 and until recently headed a team responsible for the administration of Venture Capital and Mutual Funds and Global Business Companies.  Currently Sudesh is involved in recruitment, training and HR.

AKSHAR MAHERALLY, Senior Manager, is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK.  He holds a First Class BSc in Economics and an MBA (Finance) from the University of Mauritius.  Prior to joining IFS in September 2001, he was an Economic Analyst at the Ministry of Finance (Mauritius).  Akshar heads a team responsible for structuring and administration of Mutual and Private Equity Funds and global business companies.  He is also involved in in-house research, special assignments and recruitment. 


The support team of IFS comprises some 110 qualified accountants, chartered secretaries and graduates in disciplines such as economics, actuarial science, management, business administration, accounting and finance, and law.  IFS invests heavily in technology and training to enhance the quality of its staff and services, most graduates train with the firm for a professional qualification.
