IFS Building

IFS is committed to social welfare and environmental causes. We support many local charities with regular donations and in addition have several larger ongoing projects.

IFS is working alongside the National Empowerment Foundation on projects directly impacting the alleviation of poverty and is a major supporter of local charities promoting good health.

Diabetes is a big problem for the Mauritian population. In 2009 we contributed Rs1.3M towards construction of a local centre for the treatment and care of diabetics and equipping of a foot clinic which is already operational. The APSA centre is located in Trianon, adjacent to Ebene Cybercity. Building of the new centre will be completed in mid-2010 and the centre will serve all population groups.

At IFS we are committed to environmental causes.  In 2008 we began a scheme to support local charities and increase recycling awareness at the same time.  Rather than send out Christmas Cards we now run a festive season donation scheme whereby we donate to local charities furniture produced from recycled plastic bottle waste.  In 2009 this project has been expanded to include bottle banks so that the charities can collect their own bottles and thereby receive a financial benefit.

At IFS our environmental commitment goes further than raising awareness for recycling. We are the first company in Mauritius to install photovoltaic panels in order to produce our own electricity from solar energy.  The installation is now supplying us with 20% of our power needs of our second building.

IFS encourages its staff to partake in sport for health and enjoyment. We partake annually in local football, badminton and petanque tournaments organised by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants for the profession and financial services industry. We are proud that IFS staff and teams are regular winners of trophies.

IFS has supported various cultural projects both in Mauritius and abroad. In 2008 we sponsored a new CD recording of the New London Children’s Choir, Pigs Could Fly. We have also sponsored the production of a new opera, the Ice Mountain, written especially for children which will receive its World Premiere in March 2010.
